Important Notice Regarding Hydrants
With the onset of winter, snow storms create several problems for the Fire Department, one of which concerns the visibility of fire hydrants. Large snowfalls often result in hydrants being partially or completely covered. As everyone knows, each second is important when fighting a fire. Quick and easy access to a hydrant could literally mean the difference between life and death.
Town workers try to keep the hydrants clear of snow at all times but there may be a short period of time immediately after a snowfall when visibility is restricted. And please, do not pile the snow from your driveway or sidewalk on a hydrant. Any help by the public in keeping their neighbourhood hydrants clear of snow is greatly appreciated. After all, the homes and lives you save may be your own!
